NYFW …. The clothes! What to wear when you attend NWFW In the Fall….With this being My First Time, not a lot of time to plan and unusually warm weather, I felt I did pretty good on the packing and choosing the right outfits for for shows, travel, sight seeing and Nightlife. I didn’t feel out of place or uncomfortable in any situation but I did learn pack only clothes that photograph well ( I wore a pretty dress that I love to the Social House event and It doesn’t photograph well…. It was perfect for Brunch which I knew It would be but I knew in my heart it wasn’t going to photograph well and it didn’t!) not having time to change to get to Social House…. I missed out on Having some great photograph opportunities….
I would make changes for sure….. Pack More skirts & dresses, only clothes that photograph well, I didn’t need as much jewelry as I packed…. ( narrow down Jewlery to go with each outfit!) being my first time I brought Casual and dressy for each outfit❤️ I also brought to Many shoes Way to Many Shoes Narrow down to My Favorite Black Heel’s, shoes to match My dressier dress, 1 pair of sandals , pair of Tennis shoes and 1 flip flop and 1 Bootie or wedge! Really Take the time to match. Shoes to multiple outfits…Shoes weigh a lot and you really need the spare weight!
Things I packed that I was so thankful for…. My black waxy leather jeans I wore 3 times and made 3 completely different outfits with differnt tops, jacket, shoes and accessories ( sorry we were rushing so much of the Time we forgot pictures of some outfits) my leather jacket… Not because it was cold ( it was unbearably hot a couple of the days) but to add a cool factor on your shoulders! My Hobo bag ❤️ goes cross body for sight seeing And travel day’s,(www.chicstyleutah.com) 1pair Of trendy jeans, shoe pads, gel for the heels, foot cream, Bandades, 2 portable charges, airborne and aspirin.

Today we Skipped our Morning FAShion Show , Packed up and headed for New York bagels , a walk in Centeral Park, Took a breather and enjoyed the LAST few hours we Had to TAKE in NYC…. We did have to Grab the last of Our Treats to take Home to Our families… ( mine requested FOOD) more about that in next couple post🍴
NYFW ( New York Fashion Week) A dream since I was 10!
As a little girl I played Barbies just to dress her and design her house… I have love Fashion from planing my school outfits to getting dressed up for Dances or compete in Pagents! As I grew I scoured Magazines and love to window shop and of course shop! I would watch the award shows just to view the red carpet. To attend NYFW Was one of my biggest dreams. Not to just Fly to New York and be in the city the week it was happening… But to actually be apart of shows, parties, influencer parties and soak in the excitement of what Fashion week is all about!
My Dream came true when My sister called and Said “I got contracted to do Make up for NYFW… You should come with Me!!” WHAT … Is this really happening!!! It was and so the planning, contacting and research began!) oh…. And what was I going to wear!!!! ???? Between Owning a Boutique, my contacts with Style Collective, contacts I have made over the years and of course My Sister’s ( Tiana Holiday) contacts and connections we started to plan our Big week…. We had just 3 weeks to Plan and organize what would be our first vacation ever together, not to mention a dream come true for both… And we get to exsperience it together! Pure Joy❤️

Seeing shows first hand and being able to see a good verity of shows, from New designers to established designers was such a treat! The Quality of clothing, the craftsmanship and detail was amazing on different levels. Some of the shows weren’t my style but you could appreciate the Craftmanship or Just one piece you could see how you would style it! I love the Venues, each so different and ALL over the city! Exciting to feel the different energy of each show and of course people watch! ( people watching is one of my favorite things! I could hear my mom telling “their story” in my head❤️) Fashion is different to everyone… Quality, design, Trendy, personal flare, affordable , expensive , classy AND at Fashion week you see it All!
Truly felt blessed to have gotten this exsperience and I have to tell you it was better then any of my hopes & dreams! Now that I have done it once and learned so much… I would love to plan really plan really prepare …I ‘ve got the bug and do it again next year! I have a better Idea of what to expect, what to pack , how to plan, what events to do again, what to show up extra early for and what to skip!

I get asked this question a lot what’s your favorite denim jacket or what jacket do you use the most?

Here are some of the reasons I am telling You this is the PERFECT denim jacket.
It fits better then any denim jacket I have owned or tried on, it tucks In at the waist just enough to make it NOT boxy. It hits at the perfect spot to wear with anything from a dress to shorts, it’s soft and not to heavy. It’s price point is $79-89 which is a great medium price for great quality. I own a Levi denim jacket and a Miss me denim jacket both I paid too much for and I never wear, either because to heavy or scratchy and because the fit isn’t just right.
A perfect reason EVERYONE should own a great denim jacket…. It’s timeless, it’s a perfect layering piece with lace dresses, pencil skirts, shorts, jeans, slacks and even tunics & leggings. I found I keep one in my Car all year long because you never know when you might need a little jacket and it’s goes with everything .
I have had customers buy cheaper denim jackets and more expensive ones and I get the same response.. I just love my Kut jacket I don’t wear the other ones! Even had a couple of customer’s misplace their favorite Kut jacket and ran to the nearest Target to grab a cheaper one… Thinking it’s just a denim jacket and sure enough they came and bought another Kut jacket because it just wasn’t the same!

Buying Denim buy tight, it stretches with wear…
Washing denim doesn’t need to be washed every wear ( if it’s dirty wash them) The more you wash your jeans the more you break down the fibers and shorten their life. You can always spot-clean stains.
Slow down fading, wash in cold water and inside out.
Avoid Shrinkage, Air dry it yield the least amount of change!
Best way to store jeans is folded in your closet.
Denim is ALWAY’S a smart buy it transition into every season! Just keep it a classic wash and fit!
SUMMER time TIPS
Wear Chambray or a Tencel Jean look for a light weight and easy to wear.
Wear a boyfriend fit Jean or short… They fit looser and can breathe easier.
Pair with Cotton tees or tanks that breathe and a cute Sandal to keep keep the rest of your body cooler!

Just a little taste of what I have been wearing this Spring!
A normal Spring in Utah is A little Rain and in the 60’s and 70’s Mostly Sunny…. But this year It’s been A lot for Rain and Mostly 50’s and a little 60’s & 70’s with sun… Very little! I am a born and raised California girl so I love Sun shinny days and our ” Seattle” weather in Utah is Killing me! So this Spring isn’t full of dresses and short’s of us…. It’s more like Jeans and a light sweater and more days with Hunter Boots then I would prefer😘
Spring….longer day’s, flowers blooming, green trees & Grass with Birds singing. For a lot of us this always means Spring Cleaning…. For me I have cleared out Closets, drawers, storage area’s… I love starting Spring & Summer with a FRESH closet. I can see what I HAVE and what I want to add to My wardrobe… Owning a clothing Boutique has its perks 😊 Most All my wardrobe come’s from Our shop!

Mother’s Day has a different meaning to everyone…..
Some like to share it with all the family….( mom’s, nana’s auntie’s etc)
Some like to be lazy and not get Out of their pj’s…
Some like to get all dressed up and go to Brunch….
Some just like to be remembered….
As for Me ,Mother’s Day I would love to do all of the above but of course that’s not possible!
We don’t live near our family, so it’s just the 4 of us! I never have big expectations for Mother’s Day as they never seem to be what I would picture in my head! ( 1 Mother’s Day I was electrocuted 😁) I am a Mother of boy’s and I try to teach them to be loving , caring and thoughtful…. They’re good boys… But Thinking of me isn’t always on the top of they’re list ( we’ve had long chats over this!) so being truly honest here…. I don’t have big expectations!

This year is been a crazy couple of weeks and I just wanted a day in my Pj’s relaxing, a good breakfast
( would have loved a stack of something sweet😍 but not possible on Whole30) scrolling through Instagram and watching hallmark channel and HGTV!
My day started off the way I was hoping…. Except the 6 am enteral alarm clock!
Hubby Made a perfect whole30 breakfast, and we laid in bed watching Joel Olsteen and scrolling Instagram until my boys got up around 10…. No Happy Mother’s Day ( oh 1 kid was at sleep over so hubby ran and got him)
First thing out of my oldest Mouth is what are we doing today…. We’re not gonna just stay home and do nothing are we!!!! Still no Happy Mother’s Day
My Hubby and youngest came home with a card and flower ( which I know was purchase that morning) and we are doing something today right? I really should have said did you guys plan something but I didn’t….I went back to doing what I wanted to do which was lounging around!
Around 1 my hubby asked” what do you want to do?” I stated the above and said but our kids would love to do something!….. He said well it’s up to you!
So…. Because I am a MoM…. As most of us are, that put our kids wants before ours…. I said ok let’s go to Movies and dinner….not to see Mother’s Day as I would have picked but to see Captain America because of course I am a MOM of boys❤️
The movie was great and our Dinner at Twigs was awesome, we even squeezed in some shopping…my day didn’t go as planned but I spent it with The ones I love Most!
Let’s face it any time we get to spend the day with no phones and your boys attention is the Best gift you can get❤️
Most of us Mom’s don’t have have the perfect day or the perfect family but in each day I hope we can teach and learn lessons to be the best person we can be!
I hope your Mother’s Day turned out to be what you had planned or even better then the plans in your head❤️
